A newly filed permit referenced lighting installations, DMX control systems, and power/data conduits anchored to the pool base, suggesting upgrades for a large-scale nighttime show with fountains and lighting effects.

Now, new aerial photos from Bioreconstruct reveal that Universal has installed a dozen high-powered spotlights directly in line with the fireworks launch site, as viewed from the park. This would provide a dynamic show element that could even operate in lieu of fireworks should technical issues arise.
Again, Universal has not announced any plans for a new fireworks show, but the evidence is stacking up. Here’s a look at the new spotlights, starting with an view of the central line of the park. The spotlights are at the extreme top of the image, on the other side of a lake that is just northwest of the Helios Grand hotel.
