Epic Universe Cosmos Fountain Drained for Infrastructure Work, New Permit Filed

New aerial photos from friend of the site Bioreconstruct reveals ongoing work at the Cosmos Fountain in Celestial Park at Epic Universe. The fountain is the main “show fountain” at the theme park, and it is rumored to be the hub for an upcoming nighttime show. Here’s the latest, including aerial photos and a permit that may shed light on the work.

Epic Universe Cosmos Fountain Drained, New Infrastructure

The Cosmos Fountain was drained recently to accommodate new construction in and around the fountain. Typically, the fountain is a relaxing area during the day to decompress and enjoy the occasional dancing fountain show. At night, the fountain comes alive for a final kiss goodnight show.

However, new aerial photos show that the fountain is currently drained and that infrastructure work is underway. It looks like crews are running new or expanded conduit to allow for upgraded, refurbished, or new capabilities within the fountain. Hopefully, this is to support new or expanded capabilities, and not a heavy-handed refurbishment less than a year after the park opened. A little more speculation follows the aerial photos.

With the recent completion of the permanent fireworks launch site and recent Epic Universe job postings for experienced fireworks technicians, my first thought is that this work is to support a new nighttime show.

As we’ve previously covered, Universal filed a trademark application for a wordmark for “Universal Celestial Goodnight” back in December 2025. The application listed “entertainment services in the nature of an amusement park show” as the nature of the trademark.

Here’s the logo, which I’ve taken the liberty of putting against a starry sky previously seen in the Epic Universe logo reveal.

In terms of evidence beyond observation, there was a permit filed on March 31st for “lighting infrastructure anchored to a pool base” at the Epic Universe address. Unlike Walt Disney World, which lists specific addresses within its theme parks, it seems like Universal is only required to list the property appraiser parcel, which is a single parcel for all of Epic Universe. That can make tracking specific projects a bit difficult.

That said, here’s the description of the work, which certainly sounds like it could be the work that is currently taking place in the Cosmos Fountain.

B1235 Lighting Infrastructure Electrical – Install infrastructure for (11) Ayrton Veloces fixtures mounted on cylindrical plinths anchored to the pool base. Run conduit for both power and data, including dedicated conduit for DMX control. Install (11) 20A, 120V circuits with Neutrik True1 connections and (11) DMX ports¿one per plinth. Pull all required power wiring and DMX cabling through the installed conduit, and complete all terminations in accordance with code and manufacturer requirements. Mount fixtures approximately 12 inches above the water line. Install recessed junction boxes in each plinth for power and data, allowing access without removing the fixtures. Complete all testing and verification to ensure proper operation of both power and DMX systems.
