Disney describes Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza as Monstropolis’ top-rated pizza. It’s the spot both monsters and human visitors will go for a slice once the land opens. Archie was introduced in “Monsters University” as the mascot of Fear Tech. According to Disney, Archie has spent years getting “borrowed” by mischievous MU students. That ongoing rivalry, Disney says, has turned him into a fan favorite across both campuses.
As we reported when Disney first began adding new exterior theming to the former PizzeRizzo restaurant, the space had been one of the few remaining question marks for Monstropolis dining. Disney hadn’t confirmed what would replace the Muppets-themed pizza counter. That said, we did speculate that the quick-service location would be themed to Monsters University following our sneak peek preview of the land. Our preview of the venue also suggested that the Archie’s overhaul will lean mostly cosmetic, keeping the existing footprint largely intact with a refreshed interior and new theming.
Monsters University Alumni Club Opens Its Doors Next Door
Sharing space with Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza is the Monsters University Alumni Club. It’s a seating and theming area that gives human visitors a window into student life at MU. Disney says the venue will pay tribute to the school’s clubs, fraternities, and sororities. It also houses a tribute to the Scarer’s Club, honoring legendary scarers from MU’s history, according to Disney. It’s possible that the Alumni Club will be the main seating area theming, or even the secluded room on the second floor of the space.
Disney expects portions of Monstropolis, including Archie’s and the Alumni Club, to open to guests in 2027. Work continues on the land’s Door Vault roller coaster centerpiece in the meantime. A firm opening date for the dining and shopping portions of the land remains unannounced.
