Disney has shared the first menu ideas for Monstropolis, the Monsters, Inc. land opening in phases at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2027. Harryhausen’s is exploring ramen bowls with fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs. Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza will give Blort, the Monsters University soft drink, its real-world debut. Disney says the culinary team calls the approach “grossly fun,” with familiar flavors getting playful monster-inspired twists.

Monstropolis dining is starting to take shape on the menu side as well as the construction side. Disney says its culinary and beverage teams worked with Walt Disney Imagineering to create the menus. They studied Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University closely, and characters, locations, and tiny details are turning into food guests can see, smell, and taste. Chef Brian Piasecki, Director of Culinary and Concept Development, and Evan Rosenthal, Beverage Director, are two of the creative minds behind the menus.

The big challenge is creating food that feels authentic to monsters while staying delicious for humans. That led the team to questions it never expected to ask, like whether monsters slurp or chew and whether a menu can have too many eyeballs. Disney says the answer on eyeballs is a firm no, because you can never have enough of them in Monstropolis. Rosenthal said the team often asked whether a dish was too much. The response was sometimes to take it further, brighter, and bolder. Piasecki said the goal is to take familiar dishes and add unexpected twists that feel authentic to this world.

Harryhausen’s Serves Ramen

At Harryhausen’s, the table-service restaurant from the original Monsters, Inc., Imagineers are building what guests saw in the film. That includes a new Audio-Animatronic head sushi chef who will prep food in the center of the dining space. Disney says the menu features more than just sushi.

The team is exploring ramen bowls built on classic ingredients like rich tonkotsu broth and alkaline ramen noodles. A few bowls add monster-y twists, such as fishcake sliced to look like eyeballs and green eggs. Rosenthal described Harryhausen’s as the swanky spot for a night out that still needs to be fun for guests of all ages. His goal is a menu that gets people talking and brings them back because it is delicious and entertaining.

As we reported when Disney detailed the phased opening, the Monstropolis Horn has already previewed the Caterpillar Roll and the Terrible Teriyucki. The fictional newspaper also teased a Not-So-Slimi Sashimi. It notes that the dish may not stay on the menu for human diners. The eyeball theme fits the building too. Concept art shows a large eyeball resting atop two crossed chopsticks above the entrance sign, and we spotted the crossed steel for those chopsticks in July.

Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza Brings Blort to Life

Just down the street, Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza shows a different side of Monstropolis. Inspired by Monsters University, the quick-service restaurant is meant to feel like the pizza spot where generations of monster college students gather with friends after class. We covered the reveal of the PizzeRizzo replacement in August, including the Fear Tech mascot behind the name. The Monsters University Alumni Club will open next door.

Rosenthal said the team kept nostalgia in mind while planning the menu, remembering the neighborhood pizza shops they loved as kids. They added fun, unexpected touches. The result should still feel like a pizza shop guests want to visit again and again. That fits what we learned at a September press event, where we heard Archie’s will get all-new kitchen equipment and an upgraded pizza recipe.

Blort is one of the most popular soft drinks in Monstropolis, but no human has ever seen or tasted it. That gave Disney’s beverage team room to dream big. Disney says Blort will make its real-world debut at Archie’s. One possibility the team shared is a purple frozen version of the soda topped with Scream Apple Foam.

Disney has not shared full menus, prices, or opening dates yet, so these dishes and drinks may change before opening. Construction at Archie’s is moving along in the meantime, with most of the building now sporting its themed paint.
