Virtual Queues are back at Walt Disney World, and just as impossible as ever to secure a spot. Today is the official opening day of Bluey’s Wild World at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and if you were hoping to snag a spot in the 7:00am Virtual Queue this morning, you weren’t alone. The drop filled in a matter of seconds, leaving many families scrambling to plan their next move ahead of the 10:00am window.

The 7am Drop: Gone in Seconds

As we predicted ahead of opening day, the demand for Bluey’s Wild World was going to be intense, and this morning proved it. The 7:00am Virtual Queue drop for Bluey’s Wild World filled nearly instantly, consistent with what we’ve seen at other high-demand openings at Walt Disney World.

The 7:00am window is the more accessible of the two daily drops. Guests do not need to be inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom to join. Valid park admission and an Animal Kingdom park reservation (where applicable) are all that’s required. That low barrier to entry means every family with a ticket and an alarm clock had a shot. This morning, that translated to a flood of simultaneous requests the moment the clock hit 7:00am.

What the Virtual Queue Covers

It’s worth a quick reminder of what the Virtual Queue actually includes. This isn’t just a boarding pass for a single show. The Bluey’s Wild World Virtual Queue covers the full Rafiki’s Planet Watch package: the Wildlife Express Train from Harambe Station, Bluey’s Wild World itself at Conservation Station, Jumping Junction, and the Animal Care experiences.

When the Virtual Queue is active, guests cannot board the Wildlife Express Train without a VQ return time. According to Walt Disney World, there is no bypassing it to reach Conservation Station independently. A standby queue is not currently available. Disney has indicated one will be added at a later date, but for now, the Virtual Queue is the only path in.

The 10am Drop: Your Next Chance

If the 7:00am drop passed you by this morning, the 10:00am window is still ahead. There are two key differences to keep in mind. First, guests must have valid park admission. Second, and more importantly, guests must already be inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom to join the 10:00am drop. That means you’ll need to be in the park and ready the moment the clock hits 10:00am.

Given the demand we saw this morning, we expect the 10:00am drop to go quickly as well, but not instantaneously. Have the My Disney Experience app open, your party pre-selected, and be ready to tap the moment it goes live. Every second counts.

What’s Next

The Virtual Queue for Bluey’s Wild World will be in place for the foreseeable future. Given the immense response on opening day, we don’t expect that to change anytime soon. Disney has confirmed that Bluey’s Wild World will continue beyond Cool Kids’ Summer, giving families who miss out this summer more opportunities down the line. Time will tell when a traditional standby queue becomes an option, but we imagine it could be weeks.

We’ll continue to monitor and report on the Virtual Queue situation as it develops. If you’re heading to Animal Kingdom in the coming days or weeks, plan on the VQ being a fact of life and set those alarms accordingly.

OUR TAKE: While a Virtual Queue is a necessary evil for high-demand openings like Bluey’s Wild World, it doesn’t take the sting out of missing out on getting a Virtual Queue spot. We missed it this morning, and we’re seasoned pros when it comes to the Virtual Queue system. When spots fill instantly, it’s more of a lottery system than anything resembling a reward for planning ahead.

Hopefully Disney made the Virtual Queue smaller for opening day than they otherwise would to manage crowds, and that securing a Virtual Queue will be easier in the future.
