The news comes less than two weeks after Bluey’s Wild World opened at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where demand drove the virtual queue to fill almost instantly on opening day. As we reported at launch, Disney had indicated a standby queue would eventually be added, and that transition is now confirmed for June 2nd.

Through June 1st, guests will still need to secure a virtual queue boarding group via the My Disney Experience app to access the experience. As we’ve covered, the virtual queue covers the full Conservation Station package: the Wildlife Express Train from Harambe Station, Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station, Jumping Junction, and the Animal Care experiences. Guests without a return time cannot board the Wildlife Express Train at all while the virtual queue remains active.

There are two daily windows to join through June 1st. At 7:00am, guests with valid Animal Kingdom admission can join from anywhere, including outside the park. At 10:00am, guests must already be inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom to join. Each guest may request a boarding group no more than once per day. A theme park reservation may also be required depending on admission type and date.

Starting June 2nd, none of that applies. Guests will be able to walk up and join a standby queue, just as they would for any other experience in the park.

As we noted when availability improved on day two, our hope was that demand would ease enough to eventually support a standby queue. That transition is arriving quickly, which is a good sign for the overall capacity and throughput of the experience. Guests who have been holding off on visiting Animal Kingdom until the virtual queue requirement is lifted now have a firm date to plan around.

OUR TAKE: It’s great to see Disney confident enough to open a traditional standby queue this early. We’ll have to wait and see what the crowd patterns look like, but this should be a very manageable way to experience Bluey following the debut rush.
