Disney World Still Targeting 2027 Opening for Tropical Americas

Walt Disney World has updated a “coming soon” webpage to remove a 2027 opening timeframe for the Tropical Americas land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. With an opening year also unmentioned at the recent D23 Expo, fans are wondering if the DinoLand USA replacement has slipped into 2028. As of right now, it hasn’t. Here’s the latest.

  • Why the 2027 date removal doesn’t signal a delay to 2028
  • Where the 2027 timeframe still appears across official Disney sources

Website Wording Change

We’ll start with a look at the webpage wording change. The biggest changes are the removal of the 2027 opening timeframe and the addition of new details announced at D23 Expo 2026. This date removal is not an announcement that the land will open in 2028. Our understanding is that the plan is still to open the land in 2027. Here’s a before/after of the changes.

Tropical Americas: Pueblo Esperanza
Get ready to journey to an 11-acre, immersive land in 2027. This Village of Hope will feature an exciting Encanto attraction, an action-packed Indiana Jones attraction, a woodcarver-themed carousel and more.

Tropical Americas
Prepare for your journey to an 11-acre land. This village of hope will feature new attractions like the joyful Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto and action-packed Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpentโ€”plus a handcrafted El Carrusel de los Animalitos featuring wooden animal figures inspired by Disney and Pixar films.
Disney World website (updated)

Honestly, the removal of the date is confusing for fans. That’s especially true given the missing opening year at D23 Expo 2026. I hope the date returns to the webpage. That said, there are other areas where the 2027 timeframe remains in place. Notably, the 2027 date remains on the Disney Experiences webpage for upcoming projects. It also remains in place on the Disney Parks Blog.

That said, sources have indicated that a late 2027 opening is likely. It remains to be seen if there will be a phased opening where some attractions, experiences, or offerings open in 2027 and then others open in 2028.

Long story short, I wouldn’t read anything into the 2027 timeframe being removed from one spot on the website while it remains in place in other official areas. As of right now, Tropical Americas is planned to open in 2027.
