A new Notice of Commencement permit filed with the county signals that work is coming to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure at EPCOT. Could this be the promised queue and ride updates that Disney first announced back in October 2025? Here’s the latest.

  • Work described as “install set elements”
  • Connects to previously announced queue and attraction enhancements
  • No downtime has been announced

A new Notice of Commencement has been filed with Orange County for work at the address corresponding to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in EPCOT’s France Pavilion. Walt Disney Imagineering is listed as the owner of the permit, with Orlando-based Icarus Exhibits, Inc. as the contractor. The scope of work is described simply as “install set elements.”

Background: The 2D Conversion and Promised Additions

This permit follows a series of changes to the attraction we’ve been tracking since late 2025. In October 2025, Disney announced that Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure would transition from a 3D attraction to a 2D experience, citing enhanced digital visuals and clearer imagery. The ride went offline November 10-13, 2025 for that conversion.

Alongside the 2D announcement, Disney specifically stated that new props and lighting enhancements would be added to the queue and attraction “over the next few months.” This new permit appears to be the next step in fulfilling that promise.

What We Know About the Permit

The Notice of Commencement was filed this morning and lists the property address as a location for the Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure show building. The contractor for the work is Icarus Exhibits, who have previously been featured on the Disney Parks Blog as a local business with deep ties to Walt Disney World. The partnership between Icarus Exhibits and Disney dates back to the 1990s when they first started working with Imagineering on a Magic Kingdom project.

Since then, Icarus has worked on a number of projects, including TRON Lightcycle Run, Toy Story Land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, EPCOT Festivals, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, and much, much more.

The language “install set elements” is consistent with physical prop and scenery work, aligning directly with the queue and in-ride prop additions Disney teased last fall.

What to Expect

Disney has not officially detailed exactly what set elements are being added or when they will appear. The 2D conversion was phase one. The props and lighting enhancements Disney promised are phase two, and this permit suggests that work will begin very shortly. No downtime for the attraction has been announced at this time.

OUR TAKE: I am hopeful that the new set elements will address some of my previous concerns about how obvious the screens are now that there are no 3D glasses to narrow your field of vision. In my review of the 2D conversion, I noted that the attraction is more accessible now, but less immersive. Hopefully these new set elements will start to address those concerns.

We’ll be sure to share more about the scope of the new sets and the timing when we learn more!
