Disney Park Pass Reservations Finally Bookable In My Disney Experience App

Walt Disney World has quietly rolled out a significant change to the My Disney Experience app, adding the ability for guests to make Disney Park Pass theme park reservations directly within the app. This marks the first time guests have been able to complete a Park Pass reservation entirely in-app since the reservation system launched in the summer of 2020.

What Changed

Since the Disney Park Pass system launched in the summer of 2020, guests who attempted to make theme park reservations through the My Disney Experience app were redirected out of the app and into an external web browser to complete the process. That meant re-entering Disney account credentials and navigating a separate interface, adding friction to what should have been a simple task.

As of today, May 19th, that is no longer the case. Walt Disney World has updated the My Disney Experience app to allow guests to make Disney Park Pass theme park reservations natively within the app, without being redirected to an external browser. The change appears to have rolled out overnight.

Who This Affects

The Disney Park Pass reservation system is currently required for Annual Passholders and guests with certain non-dated tickets. Date-based tickets, which require guests to choose a start date at the time of purchase, do not require a Park Pass reservation. As a result, this app update will be most meaningful for Annual Passholders, who remain the primary group required to secure a theme park reservation before visiting Walt Disney World.

Annual Passholders can hold a set number of theme park reservations at a time on a rolling basis, with the total varying by pass tier. They may also visit the parks without a reservation on Good-To-Go days, or after 2:00pm on most days, with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom park.

How to Make a Park Pass Reservation in the My Disney Experience App

With the updated experience, guests can now complete the full Park Pass reservation flow without leaving the My Disney Experience app. As always, guests will need to ensure their valid admission is linked to their Disney account before attempting to make a reservation.

To make a Disney Park Pass theme park reservation, simply tap on the ‘+’ button on the bottom bar of the My Disney Experience app home page. From there, select ‘Make or Modify Park Reservations’ from the list of options that will pop up. The next page, seen on the far right in the screenshot below, will be where you start the reservation checkout flow. We don’t have an active hotel reservation, so we chose the first option. Click ‘Reserve’.

The next few pages should be visibly familiar to guests who have made a Disney Park Pass theme park reservation before. After clicking ‘Reserve’ above, we were taken to the checkout flow seen below. First, we selected which guest or guests we wanted to make a reservation for. This screen should list all of the linked, eligible theme park tickets that you have. After selecting the guest(s), select a date that you would like to visit. From there, you select which theme park you’d like to make a reservation for and then you complete the checkout flow, agreeing to terms and conditions, etc.

Why This Matters

The fact that Park Pass reservations previously required leaving the My Disney Experience app was a long-standing pain point. The redirect to an external browser often required guests to sign in again, disrupting whatever you were trying to do within the My Disney Experience app. Having all reservation functions consolidated within the app, including dining, Park Pass, and Lightning Lane, is a meaningful quality-of-life improvement.

As we’ve covered, Walt Disney World has been actively investing in the My Disney Experience app experience over the past year, including the rollout of a new My Plans interface in late 2025 and a major dining reservation search overhaul in mid-2025. This Park Pass update fits that broader pattern of bringing more functionality in-house within the app.

It is also worth noting that the Disneyland app made a similar change recently, allowing guests to complete park reservations within the Disneyland app without being redirected to a browser. Walt Disney World’s update now brings the My Disney Experience app in line with that experience.

OUR TAKE: This is a wonderful update, nearly six years too late. Right when we started to have a bit of hope that Walt Disney World would take a more commonsense approach to Disney Park Pass theme park reservations, making the system largely unnecessary, they invest in making the system better. To be clear, this is a great update to the app, but I fear that it signals that the Disney Park Pass theme park system is nowhere close to being sunset. If the Disney Park Pass system is here to stay, like current CEO Josh D’Amaro proclaimed all the way back in August 2020, then we’re happy that this marked improvement of the guest experience has rolled out to the My Disney Experience app.
