RUMOR: Character Flotillas Ending Soon at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

|

|

According to BlogMickey.com sources, the character flotillas will soon end at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The flotillas are a COVID-era holdover when character interactions were designed to be physically separate from guests while still adding some entertainment value for a day at the parks. Last month, we wrote about how the flotillas were the final COVID-era character sightings still in use at the Walt Disney World theme parks, and it looks like that’s about to change.

Sources indicate that the change is set to take place this month, and it will move characters from the physically distanced flotillas onto dry land. Our sources indicate that Pocahontas will move to a location in The Oasis for the summer, and that Goofy will move to DinoLand USA – at a minimum. We’re hopeful that more characters from the flotillas can also make meet & greet appearances such as Launchpad McQuack and others, but we’ll have to wait and see. A meet and greet area for Launchpad McQuack was cleared of seating recently, but we’re not sure if that’s indicative of his return to DinoLand USA or not.

About a month ago, Dug & Russell made their way to dry land with the reopening of Dug & Russell’s Wilderness Explorers Club House, and we’re told that other characters will soon follow suit. Last October, Disney World temporarily tested dry land meet and greets for Pocahontas and Goofy before moving them back to the flotillas exclusively. Disney World even had a very limited-time test of the Discovery Island Drummers moving to the main entrance of Disney’s Animal Kingdom during the early hours of the day. We’re not sure what will happen with the Discovery Island Drummers should this flotilla rumor pan out.

BlogMickey.com has reached out to Disney World for comment, but we have not received a response yet. If Disney World responds, we’ll be sure to update our article.
