A recent change at Disney’s Hollywood Studios means that it no longer has character sightings officially listed as a daily offering. Magic Kingdom and EPCOT dropped physically distanced sightings a while ago, but the recent change at Disney’s Hollywood Studios means that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the last Walt Disney World theme park to still employ COVID-era “sightings”. Even so, things are changing at Animal Kingdom too.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Character Changes
Earlier this month, Daisy Duck joined Donald’s meet and greet, and Chip & Dale returned to a traditional meet and greet as well. Those were the last COVID-era sightings that were part of daily operations, marking a return to normal for the park. Of course, the characters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are similar to sightings, but that was typical for the entertainment offerings in the land before COVID-19 adjustments.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Character Changes
Over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Dug & Russell are back on dry land, but some character “Flotillas” remain in place. These Character Flotillas were rolled out as a COVID-era distancing measure, but the following still remain in use today:
- Goofy & Pluto
- Launchpad McQuck & Scrooge McDuck
- Timon & Rafiki
- Pocahontas
Prior to COVID-19, Scrooge & Launchpad met in DinoLand USA, Goofy & Pluto met in DinoLand USA, Pocahontas met in the Character Landing now occupied by Moana, and Rafiki met at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
Disney has previously tested a dry land meet and greet for Pocahontas and Goofy, but they’re back on the boats now.
