The Smellephants on Parade activation sponsored by multi-level marketing company Scentsy has soft opened at Magic Kingdom. Guests can find 8 pyramid scheme pachyderms throughout Storybook Circus in a search-and-sniff adventure. The Smellephants on Parade activation will officially debut on May 5th, and there will likely be adjustments to the offering over the next few days.
We made it out to Magic Kingdom this morning to take a look at the new offering and give our initial Smellephants on Parade review. Let’s dive in!
Smellephants on Parade | How to Play
Guests looking to partake in the completely free search-and-sniff scavenger hunt can make their way over to the ticket booth in front of Big Top Souvenirs in Storybook Circus. The ticket booth is staffed by a Cast Member in lieu of Timothy Q. Mouse, and they will hand you a map to send you off on your adventure. The offering is staffed from 10am to 6pm, daily.
There are also signs around Storybook Circus directing you to find Timothy Mouse to be a “Whiff-sistant” to find an elephant to join Dumbo’s newest act!

Also inside the map are the stickers that you’ll place on the map when you find a Smellephant! The stickers kindly tell you which “flavor” you’re smelling for. Unfortunately, they are not scratch-and-sniff stickers. That would kind of made it fun to match the sticker scent to the elephant aura.

Smellephants on Parade | Review
So, is Smellephants on Parade worth a try? It’s free, so the answer is absolutely going to be YES! It’s clear that there was some amount of investment made by Scentsy here, no matter how much grief we give Disney for choosing a multi-level marketing company as a partner. From additional props and signage below to other refreshes around Storybook Circus, it seems like the partnership benefits all parties involved. Quick pause here to check out the new props.
Back to our review. The scents (that we could smell) were mostly as advertised. There were some slight deviations, like the popcorn smelled a bit more like kettle corn to us and the corn dog smelled like bread, but other scents like bubblegum and caramel apple were instantly identifiable. We couldn’t smell the churro scent at all, but that will likely be fixed shortly. Because it is a soft opening, there are some operational things that will be changed in the coming days such as stroller parking around the Smellephants to make it easier to get close to them.
Another thing that we think will be changed quite quickly is the strength of the scents. It seems like the scents were purposefully turned down a bit, and will gradually be increased to find a happy medium between being able to actually smell the Smellephants, and not creating a scent that is too overpowering for guests and Cast Members alike.
We saw a bunch of families enjoying the offering this morning, and once the operational changes are made, Smellephants on Parade will be a fun addition to Storybook Circus. Smellephants on Parade officially debuts May 5th, but the soft opening period should continue daily until then.
