Disney World Adds Disney Park Pass Inventory For Previously Filled Dates

As we continue to keep a close eye on the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system, we are noticing that some inventory is being re-added to the availability calendar.

According to what we’re told, inventory is being re-added as some Resort Reservation guests are cancelling their previously held reservations. As you may know, Disney is allowing guests to drop reservation dates to make new reservations based on availability, or to cancel outright. As you can see in our screenshot below, Disney’s Hollywood Studios was previously fully booked on opening day, July 15th.

As of this morning, the availability calendar is showing more availability on not only the 15th, but on the 17th and 18th as well. Those dates were previously full.

We’re told that the Disney Park Pass theme park reservation system was built on some of the same logic as the FastPass+ system, which means it will not only show availability after a cancellation, but that it can also disperse reservations at a later time based on demand. We saw the FastPass+ system hand out more FastPasses throughout the day with Pandora – The World of Avatar attractions in the past.

We’re told that the recent additions of Disney’s Hollywood Studios availability were from guest cancellations for those days, but it’s also possible that Disney isn’t seeing the demand from day ticket guests that it thought it would and is reallocating some of the regular ticket inventory to Resort Guests. If the behavior that we’re seeing is a reallocation and not due to cancellations, it’s possible that we could see some more allocation to the nearly fully booked availability calendar for Annual Passholders in the month of July. That said, Disney hasn’t announced that they will be doing this, and we don’t recommend planning a visit on any days that show no availability for the ticket type you’ll use to enter the parks.

As of publish time, we haven’t seen any inventory added for the Annual Passholder or Regular Ticket types.

    1. It would seem like Disney could fill its lower capacity in July if they just re-opened 2020 ticket sales. Any rumors of this happening this month?

    2. Here is my concern. Disney is all about the dollar.
These slots open up to sell more tickets based upon “demand”. With the fast pass system down, I then spend all day just waiting in lines of 60+ minutes.

    3. But they control the capacity. They set the reduced capacity and they are showing openings for most of July in most parks. If they don’t want to fill their reduced capacity then they should show that parks are full. I’m guessing they want to squeeze the most money they can out of the reduced capacity.
