A new update to the My Disney Experience app is going to be a potential life-saver for larger parties when attempting to make Rise of the Resistance boarding group reservations.
As a reminder, each and every guest who wants to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios must join a virtual queue to return at a later time – there is no traditional standby line.
To join the virtual queue, guests must attempt to join via the My Disney Experience app at 10am and 2pm. If they are successful, guests are given a boarding group number and an estimated time to return. When their boarding group is called, guests must head to the entrance to the attraction to ride. Now, Disney has made a change that will shave off precious seconds when guests are trying to join the virtual queue. The My Disney Experience app will now auto-select guests from your friends and family list that are inside Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Previously, guests would need to select the checkbox next to each and every person that they wanted to get into their Rise of the Resistance boarding group. This naturally put larger parties at a disadvantage.
Guests will still be given the option to select more people to add to their party, but will be met with an error message if they try to add anyone who isn’t physically inside of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
