Updated Look at Drained Fantasmic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

As friend of the site @bioreconstruct continues an aerial tour of Walt Disney World, we have an updated look at the drained Fantasmic theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As a reminder, all nighttime fireworks and spectaculars have been put on pause due to physical distancing constraints, and Fantasmic is no exception.

It appears that the only thing that has changed since our last look at the theater is that rain water has accumulated where there is typically a full pond for utilization during the show. The moat around the Fantasmic stage holds 1.9 million gallons of water during a show.

Other angles appear to show no physical distancing markers installed, which could signal that it might be some time yet until we’re able to enjoy nighttime spectaculars at Walt Disney World. Disney has not indicated when nighttime shows might resume, but theme park operating hours are being cut beginning tomorrow, September 8th. The theater is capable of holding nearly 10,000 guests during normal operation.

    1. It’s still a happy place….we went last month and had a great time….just have to decide when you go things are different and enjoy what is there….Disney World is still magical!

    2. Went to Hollywood Studios in August and went to Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom this past Labor Day weekend. Had a fantastic time. Disney is doing COVID awareness and social distancing really well and the smaller crowds are great. Plan to go again in October.

    3. Went to MK today, loved every moment of it. I road 2 rides I haven’t ridden in such a long time due to long lines. The park was sooo clean, cast members are so friendly, I enjoyed myself completely. Honestly if anyone is questioning whether to go or not, my advise just go. After all fun is what you make of it. I’m 64 yrs old, I always go by myself, today was no different. And today as usual, I enjoyed myself completely. One thing tho, that comes to mind, I’ve been going to Disney since the parks opened in 1971. I remember back years ago talking to a cast member him telling me, that at night the park had paint touch up walk ways washed and things cleaned really well, seems these years they started slacking on that, but since Covid, the parks are back to cleaning again really well like the old days, well thank you Disney, I LOVE HOW CLEAN EVERYTHING IS, ITS AWESOME.
