Walt Disney World has added a rather rare third performance of Fantasmic! to the Disney’s Hollywood Studios entertainment schedule in the first week of January. According to the Walt Disney World website, there will be a third performance of Fantasmic! on January 2nd and January 3rd as large holiday season crowds are anticipated to continue through the first week of 2025.

With no other nighttime entertainment of note, Disney’s Hollywood Studios relies on Fantasmic to fill the 6,300 seats and possibly even the 3,000-person standing room and overflow areas as well.

While the week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve is typically the busiest week of the year, the first week of the year is no slouch in terms of crowds, and it’s clear that Walt Disney World is anticipating as many or perhaps even more guests to visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios in the first days of 2025 than are currently visiting.

If you’re visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios on the nights where there are three performances of Fantasmic! scheduled, we’d recommend waiting for the final performance of the evening for the most manageable crowd levels.

Fantasmic! is a wonderful nighttime show, performed in an outdoor amphitheater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on a nightly basis. The show was updated in Fall 2022 when the show returned from a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The updated version of the show removed the Pocahontas scenes and added new characters from Frozen, Moana, and Mulan, among other updates that bring an enhanced lighting package to the show.
