Rivers of America Planned to be Drained for Months-Long Cleaning Beginning Next Week at Magic Kingdom

As we first reported a week ago, both the Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island are scheduled to be closed through early 2021 for refurbishment. The final day to experience both will be October 4th, closing on October 5th.

Today, we have more information about the work scheduled to take place.

According to Cast Members in the area that BlogMickey.com spoke with, the Rivers of America will be drained and cleaned during this refurbishment, similar to the work that took place back in summer of 2018.

While the exact segment of the River to be impacted isn’t known, it’s likely to take place from near Harper’s Mill, towards Splash Mountain and around towards Big Thunder Mountain, impacting one or both of the Tom Sawyer Island boat launches.

Cast Members told BlogMickey.com that the work is expected to last into January or February.
