Two Flamingo Crossings Hotels Slated to Open in November, December 2020; Latest Look at Construction

Continuing our look at the Flamingo Crossings construction projects (Disney College Program Housing update), we have an update on the four new hotels that have rather quietly continued construction just minutes from Disney World. These hotels are part of a plan to bring over 1,700 rooms to the Flamingo Crossings shopping, dining, and lodging district on a Disney-owned piece of land just west of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Flamingo Crossings might not get all of the Disney branding that Disney Springs receives, but it is still a significant project that will offer some upscale options for guests booking a Disney World vacation in the coming years.

We’ll start our update with a look at two hotels that are targeting a late 2020 opening. Two properties from Hilton are scheduled to open in November and December 2020.

We’ll begin with the Homewood Suites, which is scheduled to open in November 2020. Reservations for the Homewood Suites are not yet available.

Right next door is the Home2 by Hilton, which is accepting reservations for December 15, 2020 and beyond.

As you can see in the concept art below, there are four hotels planned for the Flamingo Crossings expansion along Flagler Avenue. Home2 and Homewood Suites can be seen on the right side, with a parking structure separating Homewood Suites and the other two hotels we’ll learn about next.

We learn more about those hotels in an interview posted with the developer on the Orlando Business Journal (OBJ) website. According to Jeff Forrest, the president of Winter Park Construction, the two hotels he’s responsible for will open in early 2021.

We’ll start with the Residence Inn, which has a March 2021 opening date. The Residence Inn is sort of the outlier in the cluster of new hotels, but promises an all-suite, upscale style with full kitchens. There will be 223 units for the $30 million hotel.

Next up is the Fairfield by Marriott. This $25 million hotel is slated to open in January 2021 and will have 273 rooms.
