“Mobile Checkout” Debuts at Disney World

    Published:

A new feature is now testing at MouseGear in EPCOT that allows guests to check out via the My Disney Experience app. To use Mobile Checkout, guests simply have to open the My Disney Experience app and scan the barcode of the item they’d like to purchase. When they’re done, guests can check out completely from within the My Disney Experience app and all applicable discounts will be applied. We dropped by EPCOT today to take a look at the feature!

When you’re ready to leave, there is a Cast Member at the exit of the store that will ensure your purchase was registered and offer any wrapping that you might want to do for more fragile items. Some items, such as jewelry, remain behind the counter and cannot be purchased via Mobile Checkout.

Overall, the process seemed easy enough and there were plenty of Cast Members on hand during today’s test to assist guests using Mobile Checkout. If the test goes well, Cast Members say that the feature will be rolled out to more locations soon!
