Rise of the Resistance Has Been 62% More Efficient Since December 12th

Something happened on December 12, 2020 for Rise of the Resistance. After having an abysmal day on the ride’s 1-year anniversary, the attraction bounced back to average levels of boarding groups processed for a week before something drastic changed.

On December 12, 2020, Rise of the Resistance processed a pandemic-era high 166 boarding groups in a single day. Since that day, the attraction has averaged 162 boarding groups processed per day, a 62% increase in efficiency over the previous pandemic-era averages. Assuming that the boarding group size has remained the same, it looks like Disney has finally turned a corner in the reliability and efficiency for the attraction.

As we’ve discussed before, the attraction isn’t the most reliable when it comes to uptime. It’s actually quite likely that the reason Disney is keeping boarding groups in place for the ride is because of the issues with unexpected downtime and the fact that it’s easier to stop the boarding group process than it would be to dump an hours-long standby line.

As Disney looks to the future of the attraction, it would be impossible for them to keep the boarding group process in place. We stand by our labeling of the boarding group process as the worst guest experience at Walt Disney World. Earlier this year, we even wrote an article suggesting that guests skip Disney’s Hollywood Studios entirely because of how bad the boarding group process is.

Hopefully Disney truly was able to turn a corner on December 12, 2020 and put in a fix for the attraction that will allow it to have more uptime which we’re hopeful will ultimately lead to the retiring of the awful boarding group process once and for all.

    1. They just thinned out the number of people in each Boarding group. Process less in each group, slow down the cycling time a bit for the ride vs trying to jam as many people as possible. The ride mechanics work better and they can look like they are processing more people by the only metrics that the public can really see. Start trying to measure how fast the boarding groups fill up again and I’ll bet they are going out faster.
