Impressive…most impressive. Rise of the Resistance has had quite the rebound from its abysmal operations on its first anniversary earlier this month. Since December 5th, Rise of the Resistance has processed more than 100 groups per day – a wonderful bounce back, and a better-than-average run.
Today, Rise of the Resistance processed an impressive 166 boarding groups! This is a pandemic-era best and even rivals some of the highest boarding groups processed before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the Disney World theme parks. Previously, the most boarding groups processed in the pandemic-era operations of the Walt Disney World theme parks was 133 boarding groups.
What remains to be seen is if all boarding groups are created equal. That is, is the size of a boarding group the same today as it has been throughout the second half of 2020, or has Disney shrunk the boarding group size? At this time, we have no reason to believe that Disney has shrunk the boarding group size or otherwise manipulated the boarding group process. It simply looks like Rise of the Resistance had a wonderful day today, and we love to see it!
Rise of the Resistance is an impressive experience when it is firing on all cylinders and Disney is going to need it to work properly as we continue through a relatively “busy” holiday season. Disney continues to utilize a boarding group process for the attraction, requiring guests to secure a boarding group via the My Disney Experience app either at 7am or 2pm when the distribution windows open.
As Disney continues to operate in the “new normal”, they adjust operations to marry guest safety and operational expectations – recently added plexiglass is an example of that compromise. By adding plexiglass, Disney is able to get more guests onto a ride vehicle at one time, effectively increasing the capacity of the attraction.
We’re excited to see that the crew over at Rise of the Resistance had a wonderful day, and we hope it is a sign of things to come!
