Brew-Wing at the Epcot Experience Review – 2021 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

|

|

New to the 2021 EPCOT Food and Wine Festival is Brew-Wing at the Epcot Experience. Explore an array of picks like chicken wings and flatbreadsโ€”along with assorted beers and ciders.

The exterior of The EPCOT Experience is decorated as a beacon to guests who might otherwise overlook this as a dining location as they make their way around World Showcase. Inside, The EPCOT Experience projection show that showcases upcoming projects coming to EPCOT continues to play. If you haven’t seen it, we highly recommend it!

Garlic-Parmesan Wings – $7.50

Served with Celery and Ranch

Unfortunately, we probably won’t have much to say about the wings at Brew-Wing, and we’ll start with the garlic-parmesan wings. As was the case with a lot of the wings here, there just wasn’t a lot of flavor going on. With a lack of flavor, we were stuck “enjoying” a dry wing that really left a lot to be desired. Not recommended.

Barbecue Wings – $7.50

Served with Celery and Ranch

Contrary to the dry garlic wings, the Barbecue Wings did have a nice amount of sauce, and some to spare in the bottom of the boat. The flavor profile was more hints of barbecue than anything overwhelming. There was a nice balance here, but I can’t imagine that anything here will crack into the top 10 of “must do” Food and Wine Festival items.

Traditional Buffalo Wings – $7.50

Served with Celery and Ranch

These were the only wings that we felt the execution was good on. If you’re looking for traditional, this is it. A little bit of heat on the back end makes these one of the more complete offerings at Brew-Wing. That said, at the end of the day they’re just traditional wings, at a world-class food and wine festival. You won’t be missing anything if you decided not to stop here at all.

Teriyaki-Sesame Wings – $7.50

Served with Celery and Ranch

Again, we find ourselves wanting more when it comes to flavor. Just like the barbecue wings, you’re going to find more hints of flavor than anything that is confident enough to stand on its own.

Mango-Habanero Wings – $7.50

Served with Celery and Ranch

Finally we find ourselves with something that we can recommend. Packed with flavor and a lot of spice, the mango-habanero wings are the only wings with enough complex flavor for us to want to explore more.

Pepperoni/Cheese Flatbread – $9.75/$9.25

As if the option of wings wasn’t pedestrian enough, we have two flatbreads in front of us too. Unlike the wings, there wasn’t anything that Disney could’ve done better here, except maybe budget for more than four pepperoni slices. Maybe when the construction projects are completed in the coming years we’ll find more pepperoni on the pepperoni pizza.

Beer Flight – $9.75

  • Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company Pineapple Vibes Blonde Ale, Orlando, FL
  • Central 28 Beer Company Groveland Road Blood Orange IPA, DeBary, FL
  • Wicked Weed Brewing Watermelon Dragonfruit Session Sour, Asheville, NC

Two flights are on offer here, a “regular” beer flight and a cider flight. We’ll start with the regular and make our way to the cider next.

Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company Pineapple Vibes Blonde Ale

Malt beer with a light ale profile. While we wouldn’t go so far as to say that this is a crisp beer, it tries. A hint of pineapple is present, but nothing overbearing.

Central 28 Beer Company Groveland Road Blood Orange IPA

A balance IPA with hoppy smell and taste. Some grapefruit attempts to wiggle into the taste, but it falls just short of having an overwhelming grapefruit taste to it. According to Central 28, a half pound of grapefruit juice is used per gallon of beer, but it in no way overpowers.

Wicked Weed Brewing Watermelon Dragonfruit Session Sour

Probably the most interesting beer out of both flights, the Wicked Weed will meet you with a watermelon flavor and aroma up front, while finishing with a soft sour kick at the end.

Cider Flight – $9.75

  • Bold Rock Honeycrisp Hard Cider, Nellysford, VA
  • Starcut Ciders Magpie Hard Cider, Bellaire, MI
  • Blakeโ€™s Hard Cider Co. Apple Lantern Roasted Pumpkin, Armada, MI

Following the regular beer flight, we find ourselves in front of the cider flight now. Cheers!

Bold Rock Honeycrisp Hard Cider

A more traditional cider, the honeycrisp reminds us of a cream soda in aroma. A traditional cider taste quickly takes over for the aroma, making this quite a refreshing offering.

Starcut Ciders Magpie Hard Cider

Aromas of brown sugar carry through to the sip and a baked apple flavor persists. Out of the three, the Magpie Hard Cider deviated the most from a traditional cider taste, and we think that it benefits from this unique taste. It finishes incredibly dry and is a certainly a standout offering.

Blakeโ€™s Hard Cider Co. Apple Lantern Roasted Pumpkin

The roasted pumpkin didn’t have enough pumpkin for us. If it was there, it was likely drowned out by some of the other unique flavors in these flights.

Overall, the Brew-Wing addition falls flat. The execution of the wings doesn’t move the needle at all, and they ended up feeling like a waste of money at the end of the day. Perhaps the best use of your dollars here would be getting one of the flights that sounds good and enjoying some much-needed air conditioning in The EPCOT Experience.
