The past three days have been out of the ordinary for Rise of the Resistance boarding groups. While the 7am drop is still filling up in seconds, the 1pm drop stayed open for 2 hours on Wednesday and more than an hour and a half yesterday. Today, the 1pm drop was open for a little less than an hour.

When speaking with Hollywood Studios Cast Members, they were just as surprised as we were, but they confirmed that the boarding groups have been staying open much longer than they typically have been doing at 1pm. Cast say that the recent change is likely due to a drop off in attendance after the holiday season.

Disney has said that guests who park hop at 2pm are ineligible to get a Rise of the Resistance boarding group from the 1pm drop, but that really hasn’t been a factor up until now. We will continue to keep an eye on the situation and provide updates.

Before the busy holiday season, Rise of the Resistance added plexiglass to each ride vehicle in an effort to increase throughput for the attraction. We’ve also seen a noticeable increase in boarding groups processed per day since late December.
