An update to the Orlando Sentinel report about Cast Member abuse says that a South Florida man has been arrested and charged with battery after spitting on a security Cast Member attempting to enforce Walt Disney World’s face mask rules.
According to the court filing, the incident took place on February 5, 2021 when the Disney security guard approached a male trying to gain entry to the convention center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The guard asked the man if he needed directions because the convention center is closed. The Cast Member then asked the man to put his mask on, and he refused. When she repeated the Walt Disney World policy that guests wear a mask at all times when not actively eating or drinking, the man told her to leave him alone, took a step towards her, and spit on her.
While the Disney Cast Member went for backup, the man disappeared into Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but was later identified via security camera footage. The man has been trespassed from Walt Disney World property, and arrested on charges of battery on a uniformed security officer.
The incident is just the latest in a list of incidents where Cast Members have reported abuse from guests when trying to enforce Walt Disney World’s COVID-19 safety policies.
