A couple of days ago, a permit was posted that revealed Disney’s plans to expand their fireworks launch points at Magic Kingdom. The plans call for a secondary pad next to the main fireworks launch point behind Magic Kingdom park, while adding more permanent launch points to the northeast and northwest of Cinderella Castle as a means of creating infrastructure to create more dynamic shows. Here’s a look at the permit.

- Red – New launch point northwest of Magic Kingdom
- Green – New launch point north of Magic Kingdom, west of main launch point
- Pink – New launch point north of Magic Kingdom, east of main launch point
- Blue – New launch point northeast of Magic Kingdom, north of TRON Lightcycle Run
In this article, we’re concerned with the blue launch point. In recent months, Disney has been engaging in a brush clearing project in the area between the pink and blue launch points. This was seemingly part of an ongoing railroad track project in a non-guest area, but the clearing project has recently expanded to the area where the blue launch point will go.
The area north of Magic Kingdom is fairly dense with underbrush, and cleaning out some of that brush without impacting guest views will likely make the area easier to maintain as fireworks return. Historically, Disney has a system of sprinklers scattered throughout the forested area north of Magic Kingdom that they run for hours before a nightly fireworks show as a means of mitigating any unexpected fires.
Now, the clearing project has expanded to the blue future fireworks launch point. There also appears to be some land moving in the area, but any work is in the early stages. Disney has not formally announced that they are expanding the fireworks infrastructure, and it remains unknown whether or not the new Disney Enchantment show will utilize any perimeter fireworks effects.
