Back in April, we wrote an article about a permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering to “provide new parking lots at EPCOT”. The company listed as the contractor was the Hubbard Construction Company – a construction giant in Central Florida.
Back in our April article, we speculated that a new parking lot could be coming to an area immediately behind the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind building. This space was previously used for construction trailers for the new roller coaster (right side of the photo below), but with the project completed, the area turned into an empty lot…until now.

Construction equipment is on-site to clear and level the space, perhaps paving the way for the new parking lots outlined in the April 2022 permit. The contractor on site is Hubbard Construction, according to vehicle markings.
As we noted in our April 2022 article, it’s possible that guests never even use this parking lot. Currently, Cast Members are utilizing the Imagine lot adjacent to the work. It’s possible that Disney will want to create this new lot to be used for Cast Member parking, bring guest parking back to Imagine. Here’s a look at the work taking place.

The new construction is taking place right behind the giant gravity building for the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster.

A small berm has been built.

So, is Disney building a new parking lot at EPCOT? Maybe. Probably. There is also an ongoing parking lot resurfacing project that could be covered by the permit, but we have not seen any vehicles with Hubbard Construction markings for the resurfacing project. From what it looks like, an eighth parking lot is coming to EPCOT.
