Wish Granted! Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane Modification Functionality Coming Soon

Disney World has announced that guests will soon be able to modify Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation times, granting a wish that we wrote about more than a year ago. According to Scott Gustin, guests will be able to modify their attraction return window for Genie+ Lightning Lane selections, as well as modify their party size, where available. Currently, guests need to cancel their Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation and book a new reservation as there is no modification feature.

The Disney Genie+ modification functionality will be pushed via a My Disney Experience update in the next week or so. The update fixes one of the many user-unfriendly things about the Disney Genie+ service. The update comes after Disney granted a previous wish of ours to display the next available selection time in the app – something that also made it difficult for the guest to use the app. Disney seems committed to fixing a premium service that was obviously very difficult to use over the past year. That said, there are still some things that we think Disney can improve on, such as attraction bundles.

Guests will be able to access the modify functionality by clicking the “…” on the Disney Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation when the update is made. There are no changes to the Individual Lightning Lane service at this time.

    1. The only news I want to hear about Genie+ is when they shitcanit. And no, I don’t want a return to Fastpass. That system sucks too. Get rid of anything that puts guests into classes – the “haves” and “have nots”. *ALL* up-sells must be ended for this reason. No guest should ever be restricted from entering somewhere simply because they didn’t pay extra or plan for it 6 months previously.

    2. I do want a return to FP+. Everybody had equal access to it, regardless of budget or whether they stayed in-world. Deep pockets gave no advantage. And planning ahead is how I want to do a complex vacation like a visit to WDW. Nor did it give a quick ride ahead of everyone on everything, just a few things in advance and with luck a few more once there. It was a boon to us as older visitors who don’t have the stamina to wait in very long lines. We don’t do thrill rides, so we were able to FP a few gentle favorites, enjoy some good table-service meals and get out with a minimum of chaos and stress
