Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy has failed to open this morning, marking the sixth day in a row that the show has been closed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The show, which features an elaborate Lightning McQueen audio-animatronic, was reportedly worked on and repaired during the COVID-19 closures, but it has broken down again and Cast Members are not sure when it will reopen.
Data from thrill-data.com shows that the attraction was last operational in the afternoon of December 28th, but has not reopened since then. BlogMickey.com learned that the issue of the broken Lightning McQueen animatronic has been escalated, but a reopening date has not been identified. Officially, the attraction is listed as “temporarily closed” within the My Disney Experience app, but the past few days have effectively been an emergency refurbishment, with work expected to take “at least a few more days”.
