In order to make way for an all-new Villains-themed stage show debuting next summer, the Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy will be closing permanently next month. The final day of operation for the Cars-themed show will be October 7th, with the show no longer showing operating hours starting October 8th. Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy was originally announced in June 2018 before debuting at Disney’s Hollywood Studios on March 31, 2019. At Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, guests are taken to the world of Cars as Lightning McQueen takes center stage. To create a space for Lightning and his pals, Disney created a 17-foot-tall wraparound screen that stretches more than 200 feet end to end.
During the 10-minute show, Lightning shares racing knowledge gathered over the course of his illustrious career. And if there’s one thing he’s learned over the years it’s that things don’t always go the way they’re supposed to. But with the help of Mater, Cruz Ramirez, and other friends from Radiator Springs, Lightning is bound to get back on track. Sometimes you just have to turn right to go left.
