Ahead of the grand opening of TRON Lightcycle Run, Disney World is cleaning and repainting Space Mountain on a planned maintenance schedule to refresh the exterior of the ride before bringing in media from around the country to ride TRON. The work is currently taking place on the backside of Space Mountain but will encompass the entire attraction before TRON Lightcycle Run officially opens.
Space Mountain periodically receives cleaning and repainting. In the past, we’ve noticed repainting in 2017, and some exterior work in 2020. The attraction typically receives some sort of exterior work every one or two years. The grand opening of TRON Lightcycle Run is a perfect opportunity to repaint the exterior of the nearly 50-year-old structure. Here’s a look at the work taking place.
