The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District has named Glen Gilzean the new administrator of the District. Gilzean replaces John Classe, who served as District administrator since 2016.
Gilzean is the Chair of the State of Florida’s Commission on Ethics, and he has been appointed to the position twice by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Gilzean is an ally of DeSantis, recently rejecting a complaint from a Trump super PAC filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics that said DeSantis’ travel this year was a “shadow” campaign for President and illegal under campaign finance laws. As chair of the Commission on Ethics, Gilzean dismissed the complaint and found no evidence of wrongdoing by DeSantis.
When COVID-19 shut down much of the economy, Gilzean was appointed to the Re-Open Florida Task Force by DeSantis. The task force included a wide array of business and community leaders including then-President of Walt Disney World Josh D’Amaro.
Gilzean will be paid $400,000 per year, a $45,000 raise for the position.

Because no doubt he threw away all evidence, simple.
