Early Separation for Special Advisor & Former District Administrator John Classe from Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

The former Reedy Creek Improvement District Administrator and (now former) Special Advisor John Classe has left the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, according to a report from the Orlando Sentinel. As part of Classe’s removal from the District Administrator role in May, the District entered into a contract with Classe through May 2024. Classe served as the District Administrator from January 2016 through May 2023.

It isn’t immediately clear why Classe was separated from CFTOD, but there are clauses in his contract that allow for termination with cause and without cause if given proper notice. BlogMickey.com has reached out to the District for more information related to Classe’s early separation. Classe can also resign per the terms of his contract. Classe was being paid roughly $350,000 per year in his role as District Administrator, and the Special Advisor contract kept his base pay the same.

The current District Board of Supervisors is involved in dueling lawsuits with Disney over a Development Agreement that was entered into when Classe was District Administrator.

Classe was replaced by Glenton Gilzean as District Administrator.
