A 5:11pm update from the National Weather Service has upgraded the Tropical Storm Watch to a Tropical Storm Warning for the Walt Disney World area. A Tropical Storm Warning means tropical storm-force winds are expected somewhere within this area within the next 36 hours.

The latest forecast for Orange County, FL calls for a wind forecast of 20-30mph with gusts to 45mph. Localized areas could experience winds from 58-73mph as Idalia moves through Florida. Currently, Idalia is forecasted to hit the west coast of Florida and the impact felt in Central Florida will largely depend on how close to Tampa the storm hits. Idalia is forecasted to be a dangerous, major hurricane when it makes landfall in Florida.

Flooding and the threat of tornadoes remain a concern for the Orange County, FL forecast zone.

Walt Disney World is monitoring the storm and will provide updates as necessary once more information about a path for Idalia is known. Disney World has activated its storm policy, allowing modifications and cancelations to vacation plans without a customary fee.
