Disney World Activates Storm Policy, Waving Any Cancelation Fees Ahead of Tropical Storm Idalia

Walt Disney World has announced that it has activated a storm policy ahead of the arrival of Tropical Storm Idalia, which is forecasted to hit the west coast of Florida as a major hurricane this week.

Typically, Walt Disney World Hurricane Policy would require a hurricane warning for the theme park area, or the area where a guest lives in order for the cancelation fees to be waived. Disney World is currently under a Tropical Storm Watch but has activated its policy early. Here’s the announcement:

Guests may reschedule their trip or cancel their stay with us; any customary cancelation fees will be waived.

Disney World did not announce what specific dates would qualify under the policy, so make sure to check with your Travel Agent or Walt Disney World Cast Member. It’s not immediately clear if this policy applies to dining reservations, but those can be up canceled up to 2 hours before the dining time to avoid a fee.
