Rainy & Windy Conditions from Hurricane Idalia Keep Crowds Away Leading to Lowest Wait Times in Years at Walt Disney World

If you can brave some wind and rain, you’ll be rewarded with the lowest wait times in years at Walt Disney World. With Hurricane Idalia making landfall roughly 150 miles northwest of Walt Disney World, Disney opted to stay open despite some gusty conditions and rain.

According to data from thrill-data.com, the average wait time across all attractions at all four theme parks at Walt Disney World through 1pm is just 11 minutes! To put that in context, the average wait time across all four Walt Disney World theme parks in 2023 is roughly 37 minutes. The lowest single-day average wait in 2022 was on August 31st and it was 21 minutes.

EPCOT

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The timing of Hurricane Idalia aligns well with the start of the slow season at Walt Disney World. We expect there will be a post-storm bump from guests who delayed their vacations or stayed inside today, but we should see lower wait times through the second week of September.
