Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Will Increase Building Fees on Disney World & Others By 30%

    Published:

According to documents released by the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the District is proposing a roughly 30% increase on building fees imposed on taxpayers developing within the District.

Evaluations were made for both the proposed adjustment of existing fees and the addition of new fees to cover the cost of the Fiscal Year 2024 budget. A report released by the CFTOD says that there is an average global increase of approximately 30% versus existing fees. The District says that this is a similar increase to the 2016 fee study.

Fees include building permits, plan review fees, revision fees, State of Florida surcharge fees, temporary structure fees, fees for manufactured buildings and trailers, building relocation fees, and permits related to fire alarms, electrical, fire suppression systems, gas, mechanical, plumbing, elevators, escalators, material lifts, and more. Other fees imposed by the District include certificate of operation fees, attraction inspection fees, demolition fees, investigation fees, and many other fees.

The increase in building fees is currently in a proposed status, but it will be voted on in a Board of Supervisors meeting this week.

    1. So instead of reducing the paychecks this Desantis installed board receives, they are going to punish Disney more, and make them pay MORE than that 85% of taxes collected in the district? And yes. Disney pays about 85% of the taxes collected in that district.

Desantis sycophants don’t get to claim to be for lower taxes anymore. Ever.

    2. FEES! FEES! FEES! FEES! my god..they really trying to DESTROY DISNEY & THE ENTIRE DISTRICT! Their job is basically to CAUSE NOTHING BUT CHAOS & DESTRUCTION! & “RUIN ALL-THINGS-DISNEY”!

    3. Disney needed the improvement district when the company was getting WDW going, but given the revenue colossus WDW has become, do they still need it? Is there some way Disney can amputate that district and leave it to shrivel on the DeCrapis vine?
