Good morning from a rainy, overcast opening day for the 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts. One of the things we were interested in seeing is if Disney World would utilize the World Celebration Gardens as part of this Festival, or if they’d wait for a later Festival with construction ongoing at CommuniCore Hall. As it turns out, it’s the latter, but we did grab some photos from this morning, including event signage at the EPCOT main entrance plaza, and World Showcase Plaza.
As a reminder, the creation of CommuniCore Hall is almost solely to support bringing many of the EPCOT Festival offerings from World Showcase into the heart of World Celebration. To that end, Disney once referred to World Celebration Gardens as the EPCOT Festival Gardens, releasing concept art showcasing how the space will eventually be used. As you can see, the Festival flats that are currently installed in front of Spaceship Earth will eventually be moved into the Gardens.
As it stands, construction continues on CommuniCore Hall and likely will for a couple more months, so it’s possible that Disney didn’t want to draw attention to the area just yet. Here’s to hoping that it will be ready for the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival when it begins February 28th!
The Activation Alcoves remain un-activated, although there will eventually be kiosks in these areas, as Walt intended.
