In an interview with D23 Vice President Michael Vargo, it was revealed that gaming will be a “big part” of the Disney Parks and Experiences panel at the upcoming 2024 D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The Disney Experiences keynote will be on Saturday, August 10th at the Honda Center.
Vargo said that fans will get to hear a lot about the upcoming plans for the theme parks, cruises, and beyond, including a look into gaming:
Fans will get to hear a lot about the theme parks, cruise ships, and resorts around the world—and gaming will also be a big part of it. Josh D’Amaro [Chairman of Disney Experiences] always gives a great look into everything that’s in the works for Disney Experiences, and this year will be no different.
Back in February, Disney announced a $1.5 billion equity stake in Epic Games to create a “games and entertainment universe”.
In the announcement, D’Amaro said that the partnership would “enable us to bring together our incredible collection of stories and experiences from across the company for a broad audience in ways we have only dreamed of before”.
It is expected that D’Amaro will also give updates about previously announced Blue Sky ideas, including an expansive construction project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom that Disney just filed a permit for. It’s likely that D’Amaro will share more details about the upcoming Tropical Americas land planned to replace DinoLand USA, as well as updates on other projects, and announcements for 2025 and beyond.
