My Disney Experience App Updated to Version 8.0 Ahead of Upcoming Genie+ Changes

Ahead of next week’s retirement of Disney Genie+ and the debut of Lightning Lane Passes, Walt Disney World has pushed an update for the My Disney Experience app. Guests opening the app should see the message below, advising them to update to take advantage of Lightning Lane Passes when they debut July 24th.

My Disney Experience 8.0

Two of the big changes with Lightning Lane Passes are the ability to purchase up to 7 days before your Disney World vacation, and the ability to pre-book up to three Lightning Lane passes at that time. Throughout the day, you will be able to hold up to three Lightning Lane Passes standard, instead of needing to use advanced techniques to plan your day like afternoon stacking.
