The yearlong refurbishment of guest rooms at Bay Lake Tower is now underway, and guests staying at the hotel have been notified of operational adjustments. As part of the refurbishment project, the south elevators are currently unavailable. Guests are encouraged to use the stairwells or the north elevators at this time. In addition to the notice, a large crane is on site and it looks like a portion of the parking lot is being utilized for construction staging. Let’s take a closer look.
Bay Lake Tower Room Refurbishment
First, here’s a look at the notice that Walt Disney World has previously posted:
From September 2024 to September 2025, room refurbishment work will take place in Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. During this time, Guests will see and hear construction work throughout Bay Lake Tower. Please allow extra time for travel as alternate paths may be utilized.
It is expected that this refurbishment will be a hard goods refurbishment, meaning that the rooms will be gutted and rebuilt for the first time ever for Bay Lake Tower. Walt Disney World has not announced additional details at this time.
While visiting Disney’s Contemporary Resort recently, we noticed that there was a large crane staged on the north side of the iconic A-frame resort. It is believed that this crane is related to the refurbishment at Bay Lake Tower, but we didn’t get a chance to see it in action, so I’m not 100% sure what it’s being used for.
In the Bay Lake Tower parking lot, there are a number of shipping containers. During hotel refurbishment projects, shipping containers typically hold materials needed for the refurbishment and act as a construction staging area.
