As we continue to read the tea leaves ahead of a possible theme park closure at Walt Disney World, Disney has made another operational move that indicates that they’re preparing to close for at least one day this upcoming week.
Walt Disney World Blocks New Theme Park Reservations
Disney Park Pass theme park reservations are no longer available for Wednesday, October 9th at any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks. Theme park reservations were blocked for both Annual Passholders and regular ticket holders who are required to make reservations.
Walt Disney World is still selling 1-day and multi-day tickets for October 9th, but we assume that the four theme parks will be closed that day and possibly Thursday, October 10th as well. Officially, Walt Disney World has not issued any alerts, and they have not returned a request for comment.
Today’s theme park reservation blocks come on the heels of yesterday’s action by Walt Disney World, restricting new hotel reservations for October 9th and October 10th. Typically, Walt Disney World will block new hotel reservations as a storm approaches for a variety of reasons, including keeping inventory for guests who may need to extend their visit due to the storm, and for Cast Members who may stay overnight as part of a “ride-out crew” at the resort.
The 11am advisory from the National Hurricane Center says that Milton is on the verge of becoming a hurricane, and is expected to do so later today. Milton is expected to make landfall on Florida’s west coast as a major hurricane (category 3+) and it is expected to retain hurricane strength across the peninsula. Here’s a look at the latest forecast cone for the eye of the storm.
