Walt Disney World’s Hurricane Policy Extended Again Due to Hurricane Milton

Following the impact of Hurricane Milton, Walt Disney World has extended its Hurricane Policy again, and perhaps for the final time. The Hurricane Policy waives Disney-imposed cancellation and change fees for resort hotel bookings. This allows guests impacted by the storm in any way to have flexibility when it comes to their travel plans and to remain safe. Originally, Walt Disney World waived its fees through October 12th, but that deadline was extended just a couple of days after it was announced. Now, Walt Disney World has announced another extension.

Walt Disney World Waives Change & Cancellation Fees

The new end date for Walt Disney World’s Hurricane Policy for resort hotel bookings is Wednesday, October 16th. Here’s the updated announcement from Walt Disney World:

  • Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Thursday, 10/10 – Wednesday, 10/16.
  • Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or cancelled online. For Guests with these reservations, please call Disney Central for assistance.

Hurricane Milton made landfall last night as an extremely dangerous category 3 hurricane near Siesta Key in Sarasota County along the west coast of Florida. Initial data from the National Hurricane Center shows that Hurricane Milton passed about 20-25 miles south of Walt Disney World as a Category 1 storm.
