While Walt Disney World has rolled out new in-park maps following the phase one closure of DinoLand USA, the update to the park’s braille map seems to be a bit more haphazard. With a portion of DinoLand USA now closed, the braille map was updated by placing a sticker over the closed sections. The closed sections are still raised on the map under the green sticker. Here’s a look.

Here’s a look at the sticker, placed over the closed section of Dino-Rama on the Braille Map. I can not read Braille, so I’m not sure if the sticker is sufficient enough to indicate to guests that the area is not actually open. I’d imagine that the Braille would ideally be completely removed to indicate that the attractions and experiences are no longer available.
It’s also worth noting that this Braille map is not exclusively used for guests who are blind. Guests who have low vision and guests who have no vision impairments also utilize the map. In cases where a guest using the map does not need to use Braille, a sticker seems sufficient, especially for guests who need to read high-contrast maps but not necessarily Braille. However, for guests who require the use of Braille on the map, I’d imagine that Disney would want to eventually flatten the area of the map that represents experiences and attractions that are permanently closed.
