Good morning from a very cold and rainy Disney’s Hollywood Studios where we noticed that the Voyage of the Little Mermaid sign has been completely removed as Disney prepares to open a new show this Summer. The new show, titled The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure, was originally scheduled to be open by now but has been delayed for a Summer opening.
Walt Disney World says that the new show will feature “stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her”. The new show will be based on the animated film, and Kiss the Girl scene.

Back in October 2024, Disney said that work on the exterior of the building would begin “soon”, but there have been no visible changes…until now. Here’s a look!
Changes at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid Sign
We’ll start with a look back at the sign as it appeared until recently. An underwater backdrop with a convex curve follows the corner of the building roof on which it sat. Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian were 3-D figures, while Ursula and King Triton were flats. Here’s a detailed look at the sign before the changes.

And here’s a look at the missing marquee from our visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning. As you can see, it’s gone. The sign has been completely removed as Disney prepares for the installation of a new sign to welcome guests to the new show.
