A new version of the Donald Trump audio-animatronic figure has been installed in The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom, marking the third iteration of Trump’s likeness since his addition to the attraction in 2017. The updated figure features a significantly improved facial sculpt, offering a more accurate and refined representation of the President compared to the first version.
Trump Audio-Animatronic: A Rough Start
When the original Trump figure debuted following his inauguration, it quickly drew attention, not for its realism, but for its unusual facial features and stiff presentation. Critics and fans alike noted the odd proportions, especially around the eyes and jawline, with many comparisons made to Hillary Clinton due to perceived facial structure mismatches. The figure became a frequent subject of online discussion.
After Trump was defeated by Joe Biden and moved to the back of the attraction, Walt Disney Imagineering quietly updated the figure during refurbishment. A second version featured a more realistic-looking version of Trump.
This third iteration is Walt Disney Imagineering’s best attempt yet. The most noticeable improvements are more accurate hair and face shape. The Donald Trump robot appears to retain the same jacket and tie, but Imagineering has produced a much more lifelike version, as seen below.
New Props for Donald Trump
In addition to an improved Audio-Animatronic figure and likeness, Imagineering has added new props to the table next to the Donald Trump robot. Zooming in a bit, we can see the Trump Never Give Up book, a 2008 book in which “the world’s most famous businessman talks candidly about his own biggest challenges, lowest moments, and toughest fights and how he turned those setbacks into new successes”.
Next to the book are four Taylormade golf balls and a “TRUMP” branded golf glove, with the “R” stitched in red.
Walt Disney World has not announced any of the changes observed in this article, and it’s possible that they will not dedicate a blog post to the update, given that it is mostly a return to what we saw in 2017, with the exceptions noted in this article.
The Hall of Presidents is now open daily at Magic Kingdom.
