8-Month Refurbishment of Main Street USA Train Station Finally Complete at Magic Kingdom

|

There are no more construction walls at the Main Street USA Railroad Station, marking the end of a 8-month refurbishment of the exterior viewing platform. The work included the complete removal and replacement of the tile flooring, some work on the exterior facade, and some work on the staircases. We made it out to Magic Kingdom recently to document the completion of the refurbishment project. Let’s take a look around!

Main Street USA Railroad Station Refurbishment Complete

Located at the base of Main Street USA, this elegant Victorian station offers sweeping views of Town Square and Cinderella Castle in the distance. Walt Disney’s lifelong fascination with trains is central to the story of the station. While the railroad has experienced refurbishments and extended downtime – including a multi-year closure during TRON Lightcycle Run construction -the Main Street USA Station remains an enduring icon. More than just transportation, it is the ceremonial gateway to the park.

Currently, the Walt Disney World Railroad utilizes the station for “Shuttle Mode” operations. Due to the largest-ever expansion of Magic Kingdom taking place in the northwest corner of the park, the Frontierland station is closed, and the train only runs direct routes from Main Street USA to Fantasyland and back.

Here’s a look around the completed Main Street USA Railroad Station terrace, which is currently decorated for the Halloween season.
