Themed Pavement Country Dividers Expand at EPCOT

Over the past few weeks, Walt Disney World has been working on a project to install themed pavement in between the countries of World Showcase. The project is currently limited to Mexico, and for a while, it was limited to the south (Norway) side of the World Showcase Promenade walkway. Now, the project is expanding to the north walkway. Here’s a look!

Before we take a look at the new themed pavement dividers, here’s a look at the current unthemed dividers found in most of the countries at EPCOT. This particular divider is the one between Norway and China.

And here’s a look at the new themed divider found between Mexico and Norway. This is the completed side. We’ll take a look at the other side of the pavilion, which is still a work in progress, toward the end of this article.

And here’s a look at the work in progress on the north side of the Mexico Pavilion at EPCOT.

The Mexico Pavilion has received a lot of attention lately. Last year, Walt Disney World spent months replacing the standard concrete with a more themed pavement. With that project now complete, Walt Disney World is completing work on the themed pavement country dividers. It would stand to reason that other countries would eventually get a similar treatment, but we haven’t noticed any changes yet.

  1. That “unthemed” China band, you are referring to, looks like it is concrete themed as stone band to me. Each pavilion doesn’t need a graphic to know you entered it. With that said the new Mexico pavilion paving is looking great!
