New aerial photos from friend of the site Bioreconstruct reveals the ongoing demolition and gutting of the former DINOSAUR attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The work is in support of a retheming of the attraction into an Indiana Jones-themed attraction. The effort to retheme the DINOSAUR attraction is part of the greater retheme of DinoLand USA into a Tropical Americas-themed area. Here’s the latest.

Before we get to the DINOSAUR attraction itself, here’s a quick look at the pedestal where the Dino-Sue skeleton used to stand. It was removed after being marked for demolition. While there has been some chatter on social media that Dino-Sue was preserved, Walt Disney World did not return multiple requests for comment about the status and future of the skeleton.

The pedestal can be seen in the lower middle of the image. In the upper part of the image, we can see a segment of the former Cretaceous Trail, which is where guests could meet with Chip & Dale and Daisy Duck. When the Tropical Americas land opens next year, the area will be transformed into a playground.

Ok, here’s a look at the courtyard of the DINOSAUR attraction. The last time we checked in on the project, the courtyard pools had been demolished. Now, we can see the ongoing demolition of the extended queue (lower right), and the removed material is piled up near a garbage container.

In this annotated photo, we can see Bio drawing our attention to a removed theming element. We can also get a better look at the rubble as Disney guts the interior of the DINOSAUR attraction.

Here’s a closer look at the Protostega seen in the rubble above as it sat in the DINOSAUR queue last month. In the first photo below, we can see where it was located in the queue, followed by closer looks at the giant sea turtle.

It’s also possible that the skeleton seen in the demolition photos above could be of the Archelon hanging above the gift shop.
