Final Piece of Steel Installed for Encanto Ride Building at Animal Kingdom

A few days after Imagineers signed the final steel beam to be installed for the Encanto ride coming to Animal Kingdom, the final beam has now been installed. Actually, it looks like Imagineers may have been bested by the steel installation crew and had the second-to-last beam installed instead of the final beam. Either way, the building skeleton now appears to be complete. Here’s a look!

Final Steel Beam Installed for Encanto Ride Building

Aerial photos from Bioreconstruct taken a few days ago give us a good look at the Encanto ride building construction from the air. In those photos, we could see a couple of spots empty for steel beam installation. Notably, the front right corner of the building appeared to have been awaiting the final piece of steel. Now, that steel has been installed.

While visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom today, we spotted the final piece of steel to be installed, but the signatures are not those of Imagineers. Instead, it looks like the signatures match those of the ironworkers who built the structure. Crews have also “topped off” the structure, adding a tree and an American Flag, signaling that work on the structure of the building is complete.

Actually, if we look closely enough, we can see that multiple steel beams have signatures. We can see that the beam that Imagineering signed is deeper into the building. There are a few familiar names on the steel beam in the “back” of the image below.

As discussed in an earlier article, this is not the last structure to be built for the Encanto ride. In fact, another building will be built for the queue. This building will also have the Casita facade in front of it. For a more detailed discussion on what to expect, check out our earlier article linked below.

Turning our attention to the rest of the construction, we find a site with lots of activity. Demolition of existing walkways continues. We even spotted some foliage being moved around.

In the distance, it looks like there has been some demolition of the former DINOSAUR attraction facade. If I have my bearings, this would be in the direction of the extended queue.

  1. I really don’t think Walt would have ever made a movie about the land of the dead, let alone a ride out of it for his theme parks. This is the kind of thing that makes me think that the current Disney management lacks judgment. Walt wanted everything to be uplifting and to make everybody smile. The Haunted Mansion is appropriate because everything park had a haunted house back in the day, and a haunted house is supposed to be haunted, but everything else is supposed to be light and uplifting. That’s Disney. A ride where all of your relatives are skeletons is not Disney.
