New aerial photos from friend of the site Bioreconstruct gives fans a glimpse at the latest construction progress for the Encanto ride building construction taking place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The project recently reached a major milestone as the final steel beam was signed by the Walt Disney Imagineering team before being put into place. Here’s a look!

We won’t rehash the entire article here, but Imagineers recently had a beam-signing ceremony for the final steel beam for the Encanto attraction building. There will be plenty more left to build, but this steel beam represents a complete building skeleton for the built-from-scratch attraction.

Back to the aerial photos, where we’ll start with an overview of the site, and a look at what still needs to be built.

From the “back” of the construction site, we can see the Encanto ride building under construction. From this angle, the DINOSAUR building is the green building to the left, and the Finding Nemo show theater is the yellow building to the right. In the upper left, we can see the former Restaurantosaurus building, with the start of the circular ride base for an upcoming carousel visible in the dirt in the distance.

As far as what’s left to build, crews have yet to begin vertical construction on the Castia facade seen in the concept art below.

To better understand the layout of the land, let’s take a look at the Tropical Americas model, which is currently on display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Our vantage point on the model would be the “reverse” of the aerial photo above.

As you can see from the photos above, two-thirds of the total structure is currently built at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. If the final product follows the scale model, there is still another third left to be built, but that is believed to be the attraction queue. The Casita house facade will sit in front of the queue building.

Here’s a return to the aerial photos to showcase where the attraction queue building and Casita will be built as part of the next phase of the project. The queue building will fit into a triangular area where crews are doing some digging in the photo below.

And here are some more detailed photos of the ride building, which was awaiting the placement of the final steel beam when Bioreconstruct took to the skies over Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. The attraction will follow Antonio the day after he received his magical gift. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…

Plans for an Encanto-themed attraction being part of the Tropical Americas project were first announced in September 2023 at the Destination D23 event. Since then, Disney has offered new details and confirmed that the concept is moving forward at the 2024 D23 Expo.
